The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports that last night, a large-scale drone and missile strike, as well as fighting on the front lines across Ukraine, killed and wounded civilians, damaged homes and critical infrastructure.

At a briefing in New York, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that the UN condemns attacks by the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the civilian population and civilian infrastructure of Ukraine.

“Such attacks, wherever they occur, violate international humanitarian law, are unacceptable and unjustified and must stop immediately,” he said.

OCHA clarifies that in the Odessa region about 40 thousand families were left without electricity, and in the Poltava region damage to gas facilities led to power outages that affected about 20 thousand families and enterprises.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine also reported power outages in several eastern and southern regions of the country

“Our humanitarian partners provided materials on the ground for basic repairs and also provided first aid to [the victims],” Dujarric said.

He also said that, according to the authorities and Ukrainian UN partners, last month almost 7,000 people were evacuated from front-line areas in eastern Ukraine.
